MEDA-PKD: a dynamic, real-time analytics platform for precision care in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease
Plain language
Clinical registries collect valuable long-term information from people with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD), but the data are often stored in separate systems that are slow to analyze. This study describes MEDA-PKD, an interactive platform that brings together routine clinical records, laboratory results, quality-of-life questionnaires, and molecular data from the German AD(H)PKD Tolvaptan Registry. As of March 2026, the platform covered 1,735 patients followed for an average of just over two years, including kidney-function trends in 332 patients starting tolvaptan and more than 20,800 laboratory entries. This paper describes a data and registry infrastructure tool rather than testing a new treatment.
Clinical note
Health-informatics and registry platform report (NPJ Digit Med). MEDA-PKD harmonizes longitudinal routine clinical and research data from the German AD(H)PKD Tolvaptan Registry (NCT02497521, DRKS00008910). As of March 2026, the platform integrated n = 1,735 patients (mean follow-up 796 days) and 20,894 laboratory entries, with modules for family history, medications, lifestyle, quality of life, proteomics, and real-time eGFR slope analysis in n = 332 patients initiating tolvaptan. Infrastructure and observational registry report; does not report comparative treatment effect estimates in the abstract.
